As a Hazardous Materials Consultant, your primary focus is to protect workers' health and provide guidance to clients so they can anticipate, recognise, evaluate, and control risks associated with hazardous materials and physical hazards in the workplace.

You will contribute to enhancing environmental health and safety standards within workplaces, safeguarding your clients' reputation, and aligning with their sustainability objectives.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Collect samples of suspected hazardous building materials;
  • Conduct Asbestos and HazMat audits in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and residential properties;
  • Develop asbestos monitoring and remediation strategies, issuing clearances;
  • Provide technical guidance on sites during asbestos and lead removal projects;
  • Conduct indoor air quality, mould, and moisture assessments;
  • Analyse data and prepare technical reports with support from senior staff, including technical specialists and Certified Occupational Hygienists;
  • Assist the team with strategy and business development;

Key skills and qualifications for this role include:

  • Trade experience or tertiary qualifications in building and construction, environmental management/science, health and safety, or occupational hygiene;
  • Experience in the construction industry;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Willingness to work remotely, with occasional weekends and overtime as required;
  • Good report writing and project management skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Australian Driver's License;
  • Some experience in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards in the workplace or conducting asbestos and hazmat surveys;
  • Asbestos Assessors License highly regarded.
