Furniture Design Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Furniture Design Assistant to join our fast-paced design team. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to grow within the company and support the team to elevate our product ranges.

The Furniture Design Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our design team, working closely with Senior Designers and Design Managers to create better products for our customers. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General administration to support the design team in creating better products for customers
  • Create sketches and tech packs as required
  • Develop supplier communication documentation to support designers and design engineers
  • Assist Senior Designers and Design Managers in creating early-stage mockups and prototypes
  • Coordinate CMF (colours, materials, and finishes) supplier communication and coordination
  • Support Design Managers and Design Directors in maintaining the design library, prototype workshop, and project spaces
  • Experience working on projects and delivering to launches and retail timelines
  • Help create presentations for internal communication
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Industrial or Furniture Design degree/course and 1-2+ years of experience working in design for branded retail products
  • Proficient with Solidworks and Keyshot
  • Experience using power tools and machinery for prototyping
  • Meticulous attention to detail and deadline-focused, especially when under pressure
  • Comfortable with a dynamic and flexible, ever-changing design environment
  • Experienced in working in teams, across hubs, and collaborating to achieve outcomes
