Mental Health Practitioner Opportunity

This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the development of mental health prevention and promotion activities in government secondary schools. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student wellbeing and engagement.

About the Role

The Mental Health Practitioners (MHP) initiative aims to expand mental health and wellbeing support in government schools. This role has been established to provide a suitably qualified mental health professional in all government secondary school campuses and specialist school settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance mental health prevention and promotion activities in government secondary schools
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement processes and strategies aimed at enhancing mental health and wellbeing prevention, promotion, and early intervention
  • Assess, conceptualise, and analyse wellbeing issues, providing evidence-based direct counselling support to clients with a range of mental health needs
  • Coordinate supports for young people with complex needs, including referrals to specialist services as appropriate
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to implement mental health prevention and promotion activities in educational settings
  • Highly developed communication, networking, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people
  • Clear understanding of legislative requirements regarding privacy of health information
