About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team at WSP. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in enhancing our capabilities and reputation in the water sector.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the technical quality of water and wastewater infrastructure design projects. You will develop and lead the mechanical and hydraulic design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects through the full spectrum of the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the technical quality of water and wastewater infrastructure design projects.
  • Develop and/or lead the mechanical and hydraulic design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Produce and review concise, high-quality technical documentation.
  • Assist in preparing and coordinating high-quality proposals and pursuits.
  • Understand and manage the design on a range of projects or program work packages.
  • Contribute to the design team by actively assisting colleagues in achieving improved client feedback results.
  • Assist in project management and design management of a range of projects.
  • Develop and mentor emerging members of our team.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater infrastructure design. You will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications, and be a Chartered member of Engineers Australia or eligible/working towards obtaining CPEng.

You will have proven experience working within an engineering consultancy, or in a design role for a contractor or asset owner. Water industry experience is advantageous. You will have technical skills across a broad range of areas within water and/or wastewater conveyance and treatment.

You will have experience in the hydraulic design of water utilities and pump station design, CFD and pipe stress analysis is advantageous. You will also have experience in equipment selection and specification, stress analysis design using software or analytical techniques, and experience with Plant 3D or Inventor is advantageous.

You will have the ability to prepare and review technical reports on medium to large projects, consult with our clients in an effective and professional manner, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, team members, and peers.
