Mater Misericordiae Ltd is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef to join their team at Mater Rockhampton. This is a full-time permanent opportunity that involves delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality food to all customers while meeting tasks and deadlines within the required timeframes.
Reporting to the Head Chef, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Preparing and cooking main meals and desserts as per recipes and daily production schedules
- Completing traditional and Kettle food preparation, cooking, and chilling of products as per daily production requirements
- Portioning and labeling products before cooking or chilling and distribution
- Preparing and completing documentation relating to Safe Food Production as per the Food Safety Plan documentation
- Assisting with Recipe Development
- Assisting and guiding workplace Trainees/Apprentices as required
- Conducting daily kitchen environmental cleaning
- Accepting, adhering to, and promoting Workplace Health and Safety requirements, appropriate standards, and risk management guidelines to ensure health and safety obligations are met to maintain a safe working environment
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- TAFE qualified Catering/Cooking certificate or equivalent
- Knowledge of Cook/Chill processes
- Demonstrated experience in bulk food preparation, including vegetable and dessert cooking
- Ability to read, follow, and understand recipes, recipe methods, and products being utilised for production
- Demonstrated knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP) Principles
- An ability to achieve goals and objectives with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable qualifications include:
- Certificate in occupational hygiene
- Previous catering experience in a Health or Aged Care organisation
- Experience with cook/chill processes
- Experience as a pastry chef
