Emergency Services Officer Job Overview

This role is an opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of operational and commercial targets in a safe, productive, and efficient manner.

As an Emergency Services Officer, you will be responsible for providing emergency, medical, and health services to site. This includes maintaining all emergency equipment in a state of readiness, providing ongoing training to the Emergency Response Team, and ensuring the Incident Management Team are fully briefed and aware of their responsibilities.

You will also be responsible for monitoring and responding to emergency calls and initial incident reports, mobilizing assistance as required, and coordinating the ERT at the incident. Additionally, you will assist with coordination of site entry requirements, including approval of pre-employment medicals, and participate in workplace inspections and auditing.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role in the underground mining environment, with mine rescue, emergency response, and site medic responsibilities. They will also have experience in the delivery of training, leading an Emergency Response Team, and conducting drug and alcohol testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining all emergency equipment in a state of readiness;
  • Providing ongoing training to Emergency Response Team;
  • Ensuring the Incident Management Team are fully briefed and aware of their responsibilities;
  • Monitoring and responding to emergency calls and initial incident reports;
  • Assisting with coordination of site entry requirements;
  • Participating in workplace inspections and auditing;

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role in the underground mining environment;
  • Experience in the delivery of training;
  • Experience leading an Emergency Response Team;
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing (Nationally Accredited Training);
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Demonstrated recent competence in closed circuit breathing apparatus, open circuit breathing apparatus, fire suppression, Hazmat, rope rescue, and vehicle extrication;
  • National Police Check (valid within the last 12 months);
  • Previous experience in mineral processing environments – preferably gold;
