About the Role

The Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Advanced Health Worker to join the Gumma Gundoo Indigenous Maternal and Infant Outreach program. As a key member of the team, you will provide culturally appropriate care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with midwives to provide outreach services across the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service region.
  • Provide culturally sensitive care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, including birth support to women in labour.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of program strategies and initiatives to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health or Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
  • Ability to advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families using strong negotiation and networking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and health issues.
