About the Role:

The Royal Zoological Society of SA Inc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Browse Assistant to join its horticulture team at Monarto Safari Park. As a key member of the browse collection team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for identifying and collecting tree browse from specific plant species based on the dietary needs of the animals, following sustainable harvesting practices to prevent harm to the trees and maintain the ecosystem's health.
  • Monitor and document the quality and condition of the collected browse to ensure it meets nutritional and safety standards for the animals.
  • Collaborate with horticultural and animal care teams to ensure the right species are collected and meet the dietary needs of various animals.
  • Fully adhere to all health and safety protocols when conducting collection activities, using proper equipment and adhering to guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess relevant experience in horticulture or conservation ecosystem management, proven plant species identification skills, a valid driver's license, manual experience desirable, and a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
