Job Title: Technical Switchboard Project Engineer
About the RoleThis is a challenging opportunity to join our team as a Technical Switchboard Project Engineer.
Key Responsibilities- Perform thorough technical assessments and costings for customer opportunities in the low-voltage switchgear/distribution segment
- Interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and customer specifications to recommend compliant designs
- Create and review bills of materials, sketches, and cost estimates for custom or modified assemblies
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to confirm build feasibility and delivery timelines
- Contribute technical content and cost detail to formal tender submissions alongside the account team
- Track quote-to-actual cost variance; recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and margin
- Support development of quoting templates and standards for recurring work
- Educated to at least Electrician trade qualification or Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Prior experience in technical estimation, panel design, or applications engineering
- Proven ability to interpret customer drawings, specs, and AS/NZS standards
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with a focus on margin preservation
- Excellent communication skills—able to liaise with internal teams and external technical contacts
