About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator and Drafter to join our client's team in Darwin, NT. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a background in civil or mechanical engineering, accounting, or applied sciences to make a significant impact in a thriving sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage job numbers and purchase orders, ensuring timely recording and tracking.
  • Provide financial reporting as requested, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Review and evaluate cost estimates for various projects.
  • Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects.
  • Prepare detailed estimates and purchase orders for all products, ensuring timely completion.
  • Understand the scope of work for bids and manage bid pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct cost analyses and build strong working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Meet with clients and construction professionals to understand project briefs.
  • Prepare sketches, plans, and designs in line with project specifications.
  • Estimate material costs and work within budgets and timelines.
  • Maintain duty of care and compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering, accounting, applied science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in construction estimating and drafting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with MYOB or similar software is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans with precision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
