Job Overview

The Mid-Western Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator to join our People and Performance team.

This exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate working closely with the WHS Committee and other relevant stakeholders to drive positive workplace safety and risk culture.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving Council's Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS), ensuring compliance with legislation, industry standards, and emerging health, safety and wellness risks and opportunities.

You will also be required to lead health, safety and wellness risk management by overseeing audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.

In addition, you will provide support, advice and training to workers in relation to health and safety related responsibilities, including fostering a positive culture of physical and mental wellness.

Furthermore, you will coordinate health, safety and wellness related incident reporting and investigations, ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions, and compliance with SafeWork NSW reporting requirements.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Council's Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS), ensuring compliance with legislation, industry standards, and emerging health, safety and wellness risks and opportunities.
  • Lead health, safety and wellness risk management by overseeing audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Provide support, advice and training to workers in relation to health and safety related responsibilities, including fostering a positive culture of physical and mental wellness.
  • Coordinate health, safety and wellness related incident reporting and investigations, ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions, and compliance with SafeWork NSW reporting requirements.
  • Monitor health, safety and wellness performance through data analysis, trend identification, and regular reporting to the Executive Team for informed decision-making.
  • Assist the RTW Coordinator to oversee return-to-work programs and injury management, ensuring compliance with workers' compensation legislation and effective rehabilitation and return to work strategies.
  • Actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement.
