Job Opportunity: Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator

This role presents a chance to contribute to creating a positive workplace safety and risk culture, as well as drive the continuous improvement of Council's WHS Management System. As part of this team, you will work closely with relevant stakeholders to achieve key objectives.

  • Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop and implement Councils Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS), ensuring compliance with legislation, industry standards, and emerging health, safety and wellness risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement Councils Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
  • Lead health, safety and wellness risk management by overseeing audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Provide support, advice and training to workers in relation to health and safety related responsibilities, including fostering a positive culture of physical and mental wellness.
  • Coordinate health, safety and wellness related incident reporting and investigations, ensuring root cause analysis, corrective actions, and compliance with SafeWork NSW reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Monitor health, safety and wellness performance through data analysis, trend identification, and regular reporting to the Executive Team for informed decision-making.
  • Lead communication and engagement, including toolbox talks, executive briefings, and high-level safety discussions to reinforce health, safety and wellness accountability.
  • Assist the RTW Coordinator to oversee return-to-work programs and injury management, ensuring compliance with workers' compensation legislation and effective rehabilitation and return to work strategies.
  • Actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement.
  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by your Supervisor as it relates to the core functions of the role.
