Family Counsellor

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Counsellor to join our team. As a Family Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting families affected by mental health or substance use concerns.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about providing high-quality services to families in need. You will be responsible for delivering family counselling, case management and support to families, carers and supporters of people with mental health and/or substance use challenges.

About the Role

  • Deliver evidence-based family therapy approaches to support families in their role as carers.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individual and/or family treatment plans.
  • Provide brief and medium term interventions to support families in addressing mental health and/or substance use challenges.
  • Work from a systemic approach, utilising contemporary family therapy techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Families and Carers Support: Deliver family counselling and case management to support families in their role as carers.
  • Treatment Planning: Conduct assessments and develop individual and/or family treatment plans.
  • Interventions: Provide brief and medium term interventions to support families in addressing mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualifications: Hold tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling, alcohol and other drugs or related disciplines.
  • Experience: Possess relevant qualifications and/or experience in family counselling or family therapy, with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Lived/Living Experience: Having lived/living experience as a family or carer is highly desirable.
