Job Overview

The Director of Finance is a pivotal role within the hotel's leadership team, overseeing all financial operations and ensuring the security of assets. Reporting on the hotel's financial state, you will provide recommendations to enhance profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Direct daily financial activities, develop strategic plans, and assign tasks effectively to ensure optimal staffing levels.
  • Cultivate your team's performance through coaching and feedback, and establish performance and development goals for colleagues.
  • Train employees to maintain compliance and deliver results according to standards, providing necessary tools for efficient work.
  • Suggest or initiate HR-related actions as needed.
  • Maintain connections with key contacts, including owners, asset managers, guests, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote the financial acumen of department managers and the finance team through regular finance meetings and on-the-job training opportunities.
Guest Experience Focus
  • Respond promptly to guest requests in a friendly manner, following up to ensure satisfaction.
  • Evaluate accounting practices to support the guest experience, exploring payment options, inventory controls, and dispute resolution.
Corporate Responsibility
  • Implement and maintain acceptable accounting practices, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement financial control procedures and systems; manage records for audits; ensure government regulations and contractual agreements compliance.
  • Participate in industry associations and professional organizations.
  • Negotiate and manage hotel contracts, including vendor leases, service agreements, sub-leases, and government grants.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place, conducting Control Self-Assessment reviews.
  • Maintain Owner advocacy, responding accurately and timely to requests.
  • Analyze ROI for capital projects before committing funds, verifying achieved results.
  • Optimize cash flow by controlling inventory, credit, and collection, disbursements, deposits, and remittances.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • The resort prioritizes employee and client safety, maintaining a healthy workplace environment.
Financial Expertise
  • Utilize financial analysis, data trends, and market information to anticipate needs, identify issues, and suggest actions for maximum returns.
  • Develop the annual operating budget and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities for department heads.
  • Analyze ROI for capital projects, presenting findings to stakeholders for review and approval.
  • Maximize cash flow by managing inventory, credit, and collection, disbursements, deposits, and remittances.
  • Enhance hotel profitability through benchmarking, implementing best practices, and identifying cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Implement action plans to address and rectify cost overruns.
  • Prepare financial statements and forecasts for the hotel.
  • Ensure legislative compliance for payroll and time/attendance management systems.
