About the Role

As a Government Relations Officer at ASIC, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of strategic insights and counsel on Government Relations. Your expertise will be essential in conducting research and analysis to inform the organization's engagement with Parliament and other government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis to support the development of strategic insights and counsel on Government Relations.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for ASIC's participation in Parliamentary Committees and Hearings, ensuring that all content is clear, concise, and relevant to government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with ASIC subject matter experts across regulatory, enforcement, and operational teams to develop high-quality content that meets the needs of government stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on Parliamentary matters, including current issues, legislative reforms, and developments relevant to ASIC, to support best-practice initiatives within the Government Relations function.
  • Support the development of clear and concise content that promotes understanding of Government Relations across ASIC.
  • Ensure that best-practice governance and record-keeping mechanisms are in place.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, law, or economics.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment and corporate arena, ideally in a regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of the Parliamentary system and processes.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts to develop content.
  • Experience with financial services policy.
  • Relationship management skills, including experience influencing and advising executives and technical experts.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and display sound judgment.
