About the Role

The Australian Energy Market Operator is seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Professional to join their Government & Stakeholder Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Government Engagement: Support the execution of government engagement strategic objectives and establish relationships of trust and credibility with governments.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the preparation, organisation and review of papers, briefings, policies and reports.
  • Issue Management: Monitor and report on emerging government issues, manage government-related events, issues and briefings, and be the point of contact for government.

Requirements

  • Experience in a position of similar remit undertaking government relations within Australia in a complex, issues-rich environment.
  • Knowledge of Australia's electricity and gas sectors.
  • Detailed understanding of the machinery of government, including direct experience liaising at senior Departmental and Ministerial office level, with preference for Federal experience.
  • Strong networks and reputation established with governments, with preference for Federal government.

Education

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, policy, commerce, economics, law or related discipline or significant experience of parity.
