About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Open Space Planner to join our team at the City of Whittlesea. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and plans that guide the effective management and enhancement of our open spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and plans that guide the effective management and enhancement of Council's open spaces.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure that parks, public spaces, and streetscapes are developed in alignment with Council objectives.
  • Analyze data to inform key metrics related to open space use, safety perceptions, and greening initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice on Concept Plans, Detailed design, and strategic projects.
  • Prepare Master Plans, Business Cases, Feasibility Studies, and other critical documents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Strong analytical and lateral thinking skills, backed by experience in tackling complex challenges related to open space networks, Crown land management, parks and reserves, or environmental management.
  • Expertise in Open Space Planning and Landscape Architectural design practices.
  • Understanding of Victorian planning legislation, policies, and strategies as they relate to open space provision.
  • Strong graphical communication skills to effectively convey ideas, concepts, and designs.
  • Experience in consultation and community engagement within a Local Government context.
