Our organisation provides a comprehensive range of services to young people, including crisis accommodation and housing, alternative education programs, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills training, and employment assistance.

We operate six independent high schools that offer flexible alternative education for students in Years 9–12. Our schools are registered and accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

About the Role:

We are seeking a Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence Educator and Support Specialist to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work alongside the Education DFSV Prevention and Support Team Lead to deliver The Power Within Program and provide support to students and education staff.

The Power Within Program Aims To:

  • Prevent Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence as part of a co-ordinated agenda for violence prevention.
  • Provide early intervention for young people at risk of using abuse connected to domestic and family violence.
  • Provide preventative education to identified vulnerable groups.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering the Power Within Project in YOTS schools.
  • Engaging with young people to discuss their powers within.
  • Providing best practice advice on DFSV and related issues to education staff.
  • Participating in community meetings focused on youth and DFSV.
  • Identifying and collaborating with local DFSV prevention programs.
  • Coordinating services with local courts to support young people.
  • Working with Domestic Violence Liaison Officers (DVLOs) to provide integrated support for young people in our schools.
  • Determining appropriate referrals for students experiencing DFSV.
  • Facilitating conversations about the placement of services for affected students.
  • Responding to and managing coping plans.
  • Handling documentation related to ADVOs, APVOs, or FLOs.
  • Reporting serious incidents to line managers/DFSV Lead.
  • Completing Mandatory Reporter Guide (MRG) or Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) reports as required.
  • Staying updated on the latest data and trends in DFSV.
  • Collaborating with the wellbeing team in schools.
  • Maintaining detailed case notes.
  • Identifying and assessing DFSV, child safety, and other risk factors.
