The Australian National University is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Officer to join our team at the Centre for Indigenous Policy Research. As a Research Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a funded project focused on improving on-country education for First Nations students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide project administration support and research assistance to the research team to produce empirical and qualitative evidence on the impact of schooling models, education policy settings, and funding allocations on First Nations communities.
  • Conduct fieldwork in remote communities in the Northern Territory and South Australia to gather data and insights on the experiences of First Nations students and communities.
  • Build strong relationships with First Nations communities and organisations to ensure the project's success and relevance to community needs.
  • Contribute to the development of research reports, papers, and other outputs that will inform policy and practice in the area of Indigenous education.

Requirements

  • Proven quantitative and/or qualitative research skills and experience working with Indigenous communities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build strong relationships with First Nations communities and organisations.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
