About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Clinician/Nurse Consultant to join our team as a National Perinatal and Infant Mental Health ForWhen Navigator. This role is responsible for facilitating intake, triage, and screening of referrals to connect parents experiencing moderate to severe perinatal and infant mental health concerns with tailored services.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in conducting comprehensive perinatal biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and develop individualized care plans including risk management and safeguarding. They will also possess strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of mental health issues related to pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and social determinants impacting infant, child, and family wellbeing. The successful applicant will also understand relevant legislation, health service standards, and public health service models.
Main Responsibilities:
- Facilitate intake, triage, and screening of referrals to connect parents experiencing moderate to severe perinatal and infant mental health concerns with tailored services.
- Coordinate care pathways by collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide expert guidance and clinical decision-making to facilitate timely access to the right PIMH services prioritizing client safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local PIMH services and eligibility criteria.
- Support ongoing development of the NPIMH ForWhen program.
Requirements:
- Senior Clinician: Relevant degree enabling full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Nurse Consultant: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
- Proven ability to conduct comprehensive perinatal biopsychosocial assessments.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of mental health issues related to pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and social determinants impacting infant, child, and family wellbeing.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, health service standards, and public health service models.
