The Queensland Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Head of Department - Student Engagement. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of student engagement strategies and the ability to lead a team of educators in implementing these strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Implementation of Student Engagement Strategies: Develop, implement, and review student engagement plans to ensure that all students have a clear voice in their learning pathway and are able to realize their potential.
- Liaise with Executive Leadership Team: Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop and implement school-wide initiatives that promote student engagement and wellbeing.
- Support Class Teachers: Provide guidance and support to class teachers to develop and implement individual student engagement plans that meet the unique needs of each student.
- Respond to Requests for Support: Respond to requests for support from staff, including classroom observations and completion of Functional Behaviour Assessments as required.
- Identify Professional Development Needs: Identify professional development needs of staff to support effective implementation of student engagement strategies across the school.
- Collate and Analyze Student Data: Collate, analyze, and share student data with the executive leadership team and staff to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.
- Coordinate Referrals: Coordinate referrals to internal and external agencies for students requiring intensive support.
- Develop and Implement Parent/Carer and Community Engagement Strategies: Collaboratively develop and implement parent/carer and community engagement strategies to promote student engagement and wellbeing.
- Strong Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead a team of educators and implement student engagement strategies.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents/carer to promote student engagement and wellbeing.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret student data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes.
- Knowledge of Student Engagement Strategies: Strong understanding of student engagement strategies and the ability to develop and implement individual student engagement plans.
