About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced English Department Head to join our team at the Queensland Government. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development of a shared educational vision for the English department, focused on providing high-quality learning outcomes for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive educational plan for the English department, aligned with the school's strategic goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of English teachers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality teaching and learning practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote socially just practices and ensure a cohesive and inclusive school culture.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance, and engage in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in education.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with students, parents, and community groups to promote the school's values and mission.
  • Develop and manage department resources to achieve goals, and ensure effective use of budget and personnel.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an English teacher and department leader, with a strong track record of improving student outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and community groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
