Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist

The Department of Communities and Justice is seeking a skilled Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist to join our team. As a specialist in child protection, you will play a vital role in supporting the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with parents, family members, children or young people to support their safety and wellbeing by developing and implementing sensitive and effective strategies.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, manage cases involving high-needs and high-risk clients, and develop tailored safety plans to ensure their ongoing care and protection.
- Engage in complex problem-solving and participate in court processes to advocate for the best interests of the child.
- Provide home visits, support families in formulating goals, and address safety and wellbeing concerns through evidence-based interventions.
Requirements:
- Relevant diploma or degree qualification preferred (or at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children and young people).
- Ability to build positive relationships, excellent communication skills, and valid driver's license.
- Documented verification of Aboriginality, confirming identity as an Aboriginal person.
