Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist

The role involves providing critical support to vulnerable Aboriginal children and their families. As a key member of the team, you will work collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders to develop safe and effective solutions for complex problems.

Main Responsibilities:
  • You will work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people to address safety and wellbeing concerns.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to identify and develop strategies to address high needs and high-risk cases.
  • Assist families in creating safety plans and conducting risk assessments to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.
  • Manage complex cases involving high-risk clients and their families, working closely with other teams as needed.
  • Be involved in court processes, including preparation of court documents and attendance.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • A relevant diploma or degree is preferred; applicants without a relevant qualification require at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children and families.
  • You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse groups.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A paid working with children clearance number is mandatory.
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality confirming your status as an Aboriginal person is necessary.
