About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our Community Allied Health team at West Gippsland Healthcare Group. As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing supportive and therapeutic counselling services to eligible clients in accordance with commonwealth and state guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions to clients with a range of mental health issues, including trauma, depression, and anxiety.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans to support clients in achieving their goals and improving their overall wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify client needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Provide education and support to clients and their families on mental health issues and coping strategies.
Requirements
  • Degree in Psychology or Social Work.
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) if relevant, or eligible for membership of the AASW.
  • Minimum 3 years supervised practice in therapeutic counselling interventions in the areas of change management, loss and grief, trauma, depression or other emotional and psychological conditions.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Post Graduate qualifications in counselling.
  • Previous experience in aged and disability care and/or providing services in a home and center-based environment.
