Job Purpose and Impact

The Construction Safety Supervisor will lead the implementation, execution and maintenance of construction environmental, health and safety management systems at a low to medium complex facility, with three concurrent projects spanning three locations.
Key Accountabilities

Support contractor environmental, health and safety requirements during construction phase and help test and evaluate environmental, health and safety performance according to design during project startup phase.
Partner with regional domain and country environmental, health and safety to support management of site impact assessments, operating permits and construction permits.
Support suitable training content and delivery mode, in line with global and regional requirements, conduct gap assessment to identify training needs, adjust curriculum to reflect site specific needs and deliver training.
Partner with key site or project leaders to execute environmental, health and safety programs and drive culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
Understand, localise and integrate company and legally required construction work processes, programs and controls into existing sites and construction activities
Ensure strong alignment of goals, metrics and targets with project vision and targets. Govern performance targets together with plant and project leadership team and consult on planning, issue and incident response and operational environment, health and safety and process safety compliance.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Support the project manager, existing site EHS team and site facility managers in facilitating the community and governmental interaction and the external reputation.
Qualifications and Skills

Solid working knowledge of construction practices and standards is required along with minimum of three years of related work experience in construction environment previously completed construction safety training and knowledge courses and involvement in high-risk construction with various disciplines (civil, mechanical and electrical works)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES TO BE GAINED

Identify contractor support and talent needs and oversee onsite contractor activity and understand local risks applicable to contractor and external service providers, implement, monitor and evaluate approved processes to control local environmental, health and safety risks with contractors.
Partner with plant manager and project leaders and the regional organization to promote and drive a strong environmental, health and safety culture in the facility team by building a mindset where a continuous improvement mentality is viewed essential to success.
Ensure strong alignment of environment, health and safety goals, metrics and targets with project vision and targets and govern project safety performance targets together with plant manager, project lead and existing site EHS team.

Travel will be required as part of the role and the role will be based in Newcastle, NSW. This is a 14-16 Months FTC.
