Shinagawa Refractories, an established Illawarra Manufacturer and industry leading Multinational company, is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Manufacturing Engineering Trainee.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum

We offer an exciting opportunity for a career in manufacturing without the burden of a large HECS debt. Our trainee program provides on-the-job training with experienced professionals and additional tertiary education to support your development as a plant engineer.

The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced engineering team to assist in maintaining and optimizing plant operations, troubleshoot and solve engineering issues, participate in continuous improvement projects, and apply engineering principles in a practical environment.

About Us:

Shinagawa Refractories employs approximately 100 people in Australia, operating two manufacturing facilities in Unanderra NSW and Kwinana WA. Our Unanderra plant focuses on materials handling and processing, utilizing crushers, screens, blenders, mixers, conveyors, and packaging equipment. We have a mix of old and new technology, requiring scheduled, preventative, and breakdown maintenance, as well as ongoing plant improvement and upgrade projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and optimizing plant operations to ensure minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and tradespeople to resolve engineering issues effectively.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance plant efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Apply engineering principles in a practical, hands-on environment to develop problem-solving skills.
