
Astronomical Instrumentation Engineer

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Detector System Specialist to join our team in the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA).
The successful candidate will report to the Discipline Lead and be responsible for designing and developing technologies and instrumentation, providing technical expertise in support of astronomical instrumentation programs in electronics and/or optical detector systems.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative technologies and instrumentation for astronomical research.
- Provide expert technical support for RSAA's astronomy instrumentation programs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex technical projects.
Requirements:
A strong educational background in Science or Engineering with experience working in multi-disciplinary technical environments.
Technical expertise in at least two areas including embedded electronics, signal processing, rapid prototyping, applied physics, space engineering, or numerical data analysis.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong self-management and organisational skills to meet project deadlines.
