Senior Information Security Officer – Defence Sector Job Summary

This is a senior information security officer position that plays a vital role in protecting Defence systems, information, and assets.

About the Role:

The Senior Information Security Officer will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) to ensure Defence compliance with ISO 27001, ACSC Essential 8, and Defence Security requirements.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement ISMS to guarantee Defence conformity.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage vulnerabilities to safeguard Defence systems and data.
  • Establish and enforce information security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Sustain the execution and maintenance of cybersecurity frameworks and ensure adherence to national and international information security standards.
  • Offer expert advice on information security best practices, emerging threats, and mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an Information Security role, preferably within Defence, Government, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Expertise in implementing and managing ISMS and conducting security risk assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Defence security policies, standards, and frameworks.
  • Australian citizenship is essential due to security clearance requirements.
