Operational Manager Role

As an Operational Manager, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining the smooth functioning of the rail and transport industry. This position offers genuine opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.

We are a global leader in the manufacture and maintenance of sub-systems for rail and commercial vehicles. Our state-of-the-art facility focuses on overhaul and manufacture of various rail equipment with a focus on braking, doors, HVAC, and related systems.

Key Responsibilities

This full-time, permanent role is accountable for planning and supervising teams of around 10 personnel completing assembly, overhaul, repair, testing, and related work to various rail sub-systems, equipment, and componentry.

  • Coordinate and champion daily production meetings
  • Plan, allocate, and coordinate resources (electricians, technicians, fitters etc.) to tasks according to requirements
  • Supervise works carried out whilst ensuring safety, quality, and other requirements are met
  • Oversee team and individual performance
  • Investigate issues and implement improvements to product, safety, quality, etc.
Required Skills and Qualifications

This role necessitates an engineering degree, diploma, or trade qualification in Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical, Automotive, Manufacturing, or similar. A thorough understanding of how mechanical, electrical, and/or related systems function is essential.

  • Experience supervising teams of trade or related personnel
  • Good written and spoken English language skills
  • Experience with ERP systems would be highly valuable (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 etc.)
  • Experience within the heavy industry space would be beneficial (rail, automotive, defence, manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, aerospace etc.)
