Support and Enable People with Disabilities

At Cam Can, our focus is on supporting people with disabilities and their families to achieve their goals and aspirations. We work creatively and innovatively to meet people's needs, ensuring they have choice, control, and independence to build on their existing strengths.

We are seeking an experienced support worker who can be individually matched to the personality, goals, and expectations of the person we support (our member). Our ideal candidate will connect and engage well with our member and other people important to her, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and shared interests.

The successful applicant will receive training and mentoring in the member's support needs, enabling them to provide confident and independent support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing individualized support to enable the member to live independently
  • Assisting with social outings in the local community, including sports and leisure activities
  • Maintaining professional boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Reliability and enthusiasm for bringing out the best in people and yourself
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills for people living with disability
  • A proactive approach to safety and well-being
  • Certificate III or higher in Disability or Individual Support (desirable)
  • Experience in Support Work, Aged Care, Nursing, or Allied Health (desirable)
