Job Description

The Health Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the HNE Gender Service, one of two specialist hubs in NSW providing care for transgender and gender diverse young people up to 25 years of age. Based at Maple Leaf House, the service comprises psychology, psychiatry, nursing, allied health, and medical staff, supported by administration.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide visionary leadership for the HNE Gender Service, driving service development and change management.
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead complex health service delivery, ensuring patient-centered, evidence-based care for transgender and gender diverse young people and their families.
  • Collaborate with psychology, psychiatry, nursing, allied health, and administration to optimise service design and delivery.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex health services and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven change management expertise with ability to embed sustainable improvements and evolving models of care.
  • Strong project development, implementation, and management skills; able to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Strong decision-making skills with ability to analyse complex situations and implement person-centred solutions.
  • A genuine passion for working with transgender children, adolescents, and young adults, ensuring their voices shape service delivery.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to build partnerships across health, community, and NGO sectors.
