About the Role

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and safety-conscious individual to join our Fire Assay team at ALS in Malaga. As a Fire Assayer, you will play a critical role in the precious metal recovery process, working with traditional fire assay techniques to extract valuable metals from samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents to prepare them for the fire assay process.
  • Fuse mixtures in a high-temperature furnace to extract precious metals, including gold.
  • Perform cupellation and prilling daily to collect and prepare metal samples for laboratory testing.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills to ensure the accuracy and quality of the assay process.
  • Record any anomalies or discrepancies to maintain the integrity of the assay process.
  • Adhere to strict fire assay safety procedures, identifying and addressing potential safety issues proactively.
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in all aspects of the assay process.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to perform procedures promptly and accurately.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, following detailed training and safety protocols.
  • Ability to thrive in a physically demanding, high-temperature work environment.
  • Flexibility and reliability to meet the dynamic demands of the department.
What We Offer
  • A competitive hourly rate of $33.53, with shift allowances of 15% for afternoon shifts and 20% for night shifts.
  • The opportunity to secure a full-time position and earn higher pay rates as you build your experience.
  • Penalty rates for weekend or overtime work, added to the hourly rate advertised.
  • A rotating 8-hour shift schedule, Monday to Friday, with one week each of days, nights, and afternoons.
