The Role
Are you meticulous, safety-focused, and prepared for a hands-on position in a vibrant setting?

ALS Geochemistry is seeking a Fire Assayer to contribute to our Fire Assay division, where you will play a crucial role in precious metal extraction utilizing traditional fire assay methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Precisely measure samples and incorporate flux reagents during the fire assay procedure.
  • Heat mixtures in a high-temperature furnace to recover precious metals, including gold.
  • Conduct cupellation and prilling daily to gather and prepare metal samples.
  • Perform thorough inspections of samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills prior to laboratory analysis.
  • Document any discrepancies to maintain the accuracy and quality of the assay process.
  • Strictly follow fire assay safety protocols, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards.

Compensation and Benefits
The starting rate is $33.53 per hour. Additionally, you will receive shift allowances of 15% for afternoon shifts and 20% for night shifts.

As you gain experience in this role, you may secure a full-time position with increased pay rates. Furthermore, penalty rates are applicable for any weekend or overtime work (optional) and will be added to the advertised hourly rate.

This Casual position involves working a Monday to Friday rotating 8-hour shift: with 1 week each of Days, Nights, and Afternoons.

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the assay process.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, capable of executing procedures promptly and accurately.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a team, following comprehensive training and safety protocols.
  • Ability to excel in a physically demanding, high-temperature work environment.
  • Flexibility and dependability to meet the dynamic needs of the department.
