Skilled Trades Leadership Role

A seasoned leader with a passion for quality, safety, and performance is required to lead and mentor our skilled trades team.

About the Position:
  • Lead a team of 10 skilled trade staff and apprentices, fostering growth and development through expert guidance and coaching.
  • Allocate tasks and manage workflow in accordance with the End-to-End Maintenance Process, ensuring seamless execution and efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, driving continuous improvement across the team.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and technical investigations to identify areas for improvement and optimize operational excellence.
  • Drive professional development and support the growth of skilled trades professionals through training, mentoring, and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with planners, schedulers, and Defence stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and deliver exceptional results.
  • Review time confirmations, leave applications, and performance metrics to inform data-driven decisions and drive business outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis or Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent), demonstrating expertise and knowledge in mechanical technologies.
  • Proven leadership experience in a workshop or maintenance environment, showcasing ability to motivate and guide teams towards shared goals.
  • Proficiency in using SAP and MS Office, leveraging technology to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of WHS, quality assurance, and Defence compliance standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Manual C-class driver's licence, enabling flexibility and adaptability in work assignments.

To be considered for this role, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1) and meet Australian citizenship requirements.
