Role Overview:

As a Team Member Fingerprints, you will contribute to the achievement of business, investigation and intelligence outcomes through the provision of specialist forensic examinations, analysis and specialist technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure outputs align with the strategic direction of the organization
  • Maintain currency in fingerprint science expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities
  • Laboratory and scene based Evidence recovery roles
  • Search, compare and identify fingerprints and collect fingerprints from deceased persons
  • Maintain the national fingerprint database
  • Provide accurate, timely and impartial Forensic evidence to the courts
  • Provide a guiding, mentoring and advisory role to junior fingerprint trainees as required
  • Contribute to research and capability development projects
  • Provide accurate and professional technical advice to domestic and international agency partners
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Australasian Forensic Science Assessment Body (AFSAB) qualification or equivalent Graduate Certificate in Fingerprint Examination or formal international qualification related to your fingerprint expertise is a mandatory requirement
  • Minimum 4 years contemporary experience related to Fingerprint sciences
  • Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively to achieve outcomes
