Job Overview

Mine geologists play a pivotal role in the success of mining operations, ensuring accurate delineation of ore bodies and efficient grade control activities.

The successful candidates will be responsible for overseeing daily drilling programs, managing geological data, and supporting the delivery of high-quality ore to the processing plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily grade control drilling programs to ensure accurate ore body delineation and timely delivery of ore to processing.
  • Monitor and analyze geological data to ensure proper delineation of ore and waste.
  • Collaborate closely with mine planning and operations teams to align geological models with operational needs.
  • Participate in field mapping, ore spotting, and waste delineation activities.
  • Ensure quality control for ore and waste material.
  • Assist in the management of geological data, reporting, and tracking to maintain high data accuracy.
  • Provide geological support to the mining team, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance with site safety standards.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Geology or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in grade control and mine geology, preferably in iron ore.
  • Experience with geological software (DataMine, Micromine, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of ore body models, grade control principles, and drilling design.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with a focus on safety.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting and data sharing.
