Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing high-voltage substations and reticulation networks, as well as developing technical specifications for switchgear and transformers.

The role requires a strong understanding of electrical design principles, including insulation coordination and lightning protection. The engineer must also have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with clients and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed designs for HV substations and reticulation networks
  • Conduct professional engineering works, including planning and conducting site installations and commissioning
  • Develop technical specifications for HV switchgear, transformers, and battery chargers
  • Design indoor substation layouts and HV cables
  • Meet with clients to resolve technical issues and provide solutions
Requirements
  • University degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience in HV substation and HV distribution networks
  • Knowledge of HV distribution design standards, both Australian and international
  • Fundamental understanding of HV primary design
  • Understanding of civil/structural interface requirements for HV substations
  • Ability to learn software packages like CYMCAP, DIg SILENT Power Factory independently
