About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Coordinator or Team Coordinator - Peer Specialist to join our team at Flourish Australia. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will play a vital role in providing supervision and guidance to staff, supporting and developing the skills of staff through in-service training, and working directly with people with a lived experience of a mental health issue.

As a Team Coordinator or Team Coordinator - Peer Specialist, you will lead by example, providing person-led recovery-oriented and trauma-informed services that best support people to live in the community. You will use your lived experience and personal recovery to mentor people with a lived experience of a mental health issue, applying recovery knowledge in your role and peer work philosophies.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the manager to implement programs, policies, and local procedures, and planning and coordinating programs or projects as required.
  • Providing day-to-day supervision and support of lower or similar classified employees.
  • Facilitating discussions regarding the individual needs and goals of each person accessing Flourish Australia's services, and collaboratively developing, implementing, and monitoring individual plans that meet these needs.
  • Encouraging people to develop skills that meet their needs, including domestic skills, social skills, independence skills, and skills to enter education and/or employment.
  • Ensuring that individual support meets recovery journey goals and is strengths-based and led by the person wherever possible.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria:

  1. A relevant Certificate IV or above in a relevant field.
  2. At least 3 years' experience working in the community in a mental health setting.
  3. A strong commitment to, and advanced understanding of, recovery-based practice in the workplace.
  4. Excellent knowledge of the local area and its health services and other community services.
  5. A strong understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health issue.
  6. Demonstrated experience in a similar role and in providing support and/or supervision to lower classified staff.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of data information management systems.
  8. A personal lived experience of a mental health issue (Team Coordinator – Peer Specialist only).
  9. Maintain a current Australian Driver's Licence.

Desirable criteria include a current First Aid Certificate.

All appointments with Flourish Australia's Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a National Criminal History Check, a WWCC, previous employment reference checks, satisfactory Australian residency status, and other background checks. All successful applicants will be asked to provide evidence they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including booster) prior to commencement, in line with Flourish Australia's Vaccination Policy, and will be required to declare any private or secondary employment prior to commencement in line with Flourish Australia's Private or Secondary Employment Policy.
