Support Worker for Complex Trauma

About the Position

This role involves working with individuals living with complex trauma and psychosocial challenges at our residential site. The Support Worker will tailor their support to align with each participant's individualised plan.

Working with external care teams and families, the role is responsible for providing high-quality, responsive, and person-centred support to assist participants in enhancing their everyday living skills, gaining access and participation in community, achieving their goals, and improving their quality of life and physical and mental health.

The Role
  1. Provide daily living support: Hygiene prompting, meal preparation, and maintaining living spaces
  2. Support participants to attend appointments and engage in community activities
  3. Implement approved restrictive practices as per NDIS guidelines using positive behaviour support
  4. Deliver support according to individualised plans to enhance participants' wellbeing
  5. Empower participants to make decisions within their assessed capacity
About You
  • Qualification in mental health, psychology, social work, or related field (desired)
  • Experience working with criminal justice and/or mental health systems is highly regarded
  • Ability to deliver trauma-informed practice
  • Capacity to work with Drug and Alcohol challenged participants
  • At least 2 years' experience supporting people with complex mental illness providing behaviourally informed support
  • Clear understanding of professional boundaries and restrictive practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and autonomous work
  • Compassion for people with complex mental health and marginalised communities
  • Experience supporting individuals with significant complexity in their lives
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • NSW Driver's Licence and vehicle
