The role of Real Estate Underwriter involves providing critical support to the institution's wholesale credit risk management framework. Key responsibilities include analyzing and reviewing due diligence for commercial real estate loans, preparing internal committee packages for approval, and understanding complex local real estate markets.

Responsibilities also entail adopting leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process. This involves working closely with global and regional business heads, independent risk, regulators, and other control functions to ensure seamless coordination.

In addition, the successful candidate will facilitate relationships with key clients in banking and risk, as well as with key regulators, internal audit, and control functions. The role requires a strong ability to provide first-line-of-defense credit approval for complex transactions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 7-10 years of experience in credit-related commercial real estate work in banking or financial institutions.
  • Credit Officer or Senior Credit Officer designation or on track to obtain.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with regulators and internal control functions, including internal audit and fundamental credit risk.
  • Demonstrates strong ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to see the 'big picture' in a complex environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
