About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our team at eFinancialCareers Ltd. as a Claims Expert - Short Tail Portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a complex portfolio of commercial line claims with high exposure across multiple jurisdictions, adhering to authority levels within the business lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of claims, providing technical guidance and coaching to Claims Specialists, and serving as a referral point for coverage, reserving, and payment decisions.
  • Engage with global 'large loss' teams as per authority procedures, upholding a 'no surprises' reporting philosophy.
  • Oversee the claims portfolio to ensure claims are handled efficiently, appropriately, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Report and present complex loss and claims information to stakeholders, maximize recoverable income through proactive reinsurance engagement, and manage external service providers.
  • Support business development initiatives and stay up-to-date with claims and industry trends.

About You

  • Require extensive experience in complex claims handling within relevant business lines, or a lawyer with a minimum of 7 years post-qualification in insurance litigation.
  • Must possess deep technical knowledge of relevant business lines, including independent coverage assessment and a comprehensive understanding of the legal process.
  • Need to have excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, alongside strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Should have highly developed negotiation and investigation skills, with a capacity to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage tasks and resources.
  • Must maintain current knowledge of insurance guidelines, legislation, and regulations, demonstrate proficiency with relevant systems and tools, and uphold a growth mindset with a commitment to ethics and professionalism.
