Job Title: Principal Legal Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Legal Officer to join our Corporate Legal Branch in the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide strategic, accurate, clear, helpful, and timely legal advice and services to departmental clients in commercial, property, and/or employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality legal advice and services to departmental clients
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach junior staff
  • Manage a team to ensure delivery of quality legal services
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from a recognised Australian tertiary education provider
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia
