Our Business Tax practice is seeking a dynamic Tax Manager to join our expanding team. As a first-choice advisor, you will be part of a strong relationship-based approach, collaborating with closely held businesses and their owners. You may also support ultra-high net worth individuals and small family offices, taking a holistic approach to advising clients through collaboration with their professional advisors.

Your responsibilities as a Tax Manager will include:

  • Advising business owner clients on a full spectrum of business and tax opportunities, including succession planning, wealth transfer planning, and tax compliance
  • Managing and overseeing engagement teams focused on Partnership, S corporation or C Corporation, as well as Individual and Fiduciary taxation
  • Collaborating with RSM specialists regarding Estate and Gift planning, State and Local Taxation, and International Taxation
  • Working on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between clients and the service team, managing risk for both parties
  • Providing leadership, training, and career mentorship to Staff and Supervisor level team members, serving as a Career Advisor by offering honest and timely performance feedback
  • Driving and collaborating with senior leadership on growth opportunities with existing clients and prospects
  • Developing and sustaining strong relationships with clients and other professional advisors through a commitment to outstanding client service
  • Reviewing research findings and ensuring conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards
  • Staying up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some travel may be required (varies based on location, line of business, and client need)

Becoming a Tax Manager at RSM requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field
  • CPA license in one's principal place of business/home state, licensed J.D., or Enrolled Agent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in public accounting with an emphasis on taxation, with recent years involving managing client engagements
  • Proficiency in entity (Partnership, S Corporation, or C Corporation) and Individual Taxation
  • Familiarity with Fiduciary, Gift, and Estate Taxation
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to work in a collaborative team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred qualifications include:

  • LL.M. in Taxation and/or Master's in Taxation
  • Experience with private client or business taxation, with a desire to grow skills in the Private Company arena
  • Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation, industry specialization a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience dealing with international tax matters a plus

The estimated salary range for this position is $88,400 - $167,200 per year.
