Lead Investigator for Child Safeguarding

The Senior Lead, Investigations and Child Safeguarding role plays a pivotal leadership role in ensuring child safety is upheld across all services. The successful candidate will lead a team of dedicated investigators within the Child Safeguarding Unit, providing expert guidance, mentoring, and oversight to ensure investigations are thorough, procedurally fair, and trauma-informed.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor the Child Safeguarding Unit, ensuring high-quality, procedurally fair investigations.
- Oversee the allocation and progress of investigations, including complex and historical cases.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to uphold legislative and policy obligations.
- Drive continuous improvement in safeguarding practices and systems.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Extensive experience in leading investigations involving vulnerable children and young people.
- A passion for child safety and sound understanding of Victorian child safety standards.
- A keen eye for detail and identifying risk.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act.
- Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and report writing skills.
- Extensive leadership experience and enjoyment working collaboratively within a team.
