Job Title: Forest Operations Assistant

The Forest Operations team is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join their ranks as a Field Assistant. This role involves contributing to the successful management of forest operations, with a focus on ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and sustainable manner.

As a Field Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the team's efforts to maintain and improve forest health. This will involve working closely with colleagues to develop and implement effective strategies for managing forest resources, as well as participating in regular site visits to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fieldwork to assess forest conditions and identify areas where management interventions may be necessary;
  • Develop and implement effective management strategies to address identified issues;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate forest operations, including harvesting, regeneration, and maintenance activities;
  • Participate in regular site visits to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement;
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed;
  • Contribute to the development of reports and other documentation related to forest operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of forestry principles and practices;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Proven ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions;
  • Physical fitness to withstand the demands of fieldwork;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant experience in a related field.
