Accounting Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join our team at HOBAN Recruitment. As an Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing our client's financial operations and contributing to their continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage the monthly closing process and the preparation of financial statements.
  • Provide timely financial reports and forecasts to the Managing Director.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, regulations, and agreements.
  • Communicate accounting policies and procedures effectively across various departments and branch offices.
  • Guarantee timely and accurate financial reporting in alignment with US GAAP and government regulations.
  • Supervise the monthly and annual closing processes, including reviewing financial statements, journal vouchers, account analyses, and sales reports.
  • Keep the Managing Director informed about any financial and operational issues.
  • Assist with budgeting functions, performance analysis, and budget preparation.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth annual audits.
  • Liaise with internal IT and external vendors regarding SAP and other systems.
  • Maintain and manage the fixed assets register.
  • Provide necessary documentation to management teams in Australia, the US, and Japan.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff, offering guidance and support to foster their professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to make decisions, prioritize tasks, and find solutions independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and process improvement capabilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in both English and Japanese.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Over 7 years of accounting experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong background in the wholesale/distribution industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with SAP systems is required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Japanese language proficiency is highly desirable.
