About the Role

Flying Bark Productions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lighting and Compositing Technical Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our technical support team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to our Lighting and Compositing crews, ensuring the smooth operation of our rendering infrastructure, and providing basic help desk and IT support to our artists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily technical support to the Lighting and Compositing crews, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to complete their tasks efficiently.
  • Identify and diagnose failing renders and malfunctioning render machines, notifying the artists and taking corrective action as needed.
  • Monitor the render queue to maximize resource efficiency and handle job priorities, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Monitor and report resource utilization, including disk space, node usage, and job saturation, to ensure that our infrastructure is running at optimal levels.
  • Review and resolve bug reports with the help of other system engineers, ensuring that all issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform quality control checks on shots delivered from upstream departments for delivery to Lighting, ensuring that all assets meet the required standards.
  • Perform quality control checks on Lighting Renders, ensuring that all outputs meet the required standards.
  • Respond to rendering-related support requests from artists and other team members, providing timely and effective support to ensure that all tasks are completed on time.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong understanding of 3D packages such as Katana, Maya, and Nuke. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work to a verbal or visual brief and flag any issues that may impact on achieving milestones. You will be able to consistently meet deadlines, work independently, and take direction and feedback from others. You will also have a strong attention to detail and be able to script using Python and/or Mel.
