Lighting and Compositing Technical Assistant

Flying Bark Productions is a renowned independent producer of family-focused animation entertainment. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Support Specialist to join our team in Sydney.

The successful candidate will provide technical support for our Lighting and Compositing teams, ensuring the smooth operation of our rendering infrastructure and providing basic help desk and IT support to our artists.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily technical support to the Lighting and Compositing crews;
  • Identifying and diagnosing failing renders and malfunctioning render machines;
  • Monitoring the render queue to maximise resource efficiency and handle job priorities;
  • Monitoring and reporting resource utilisation;
  • Reviewing and resolving bug reports with the help of other system engineers;
  • Quality control for shots delivered from upstream departments;
  • Quality control of Lighting Renders;
  • Responding to rendering-related support requests;

Requirements include:

  • A working understanding of 3D packages like Katana, Maya and Nuke;
  • Strong communication and ability to work to a verbal or visual brief;
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to share information in a team environment;
  • Ability to take direction and be flexible and responsive to change;
  • Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision;
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to script using Python and/or Mel (a bonus).
