Job Title: Mechanical System Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical System Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our complex mechanical systems.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine inspection, repair, and maintenance tasks on our autonomous underwater vessels (AUVs). This will include diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting component and subsystem-level tests, and collaborating with engineers and other trades to resolve complex problems.

You will also be required to operate our Maintenance Management System (MMS), ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities, parts, and consumables consumption. Additionally, you will conduct underway sea testing of AUVs and provide constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams for ongoing evolution.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in maintenance of mechanical systems or structures
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-tool skills
  • Vocational training in mechanical trades or associate degree ideal
  • Maritime trade background desirable as well as subsea experience or autonomous vehicle operation
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics)
  • Experience performing component, subsystem, and system-level tests and diagnosing/escalating issues discovered during these processes
  • Exposure to operation of Maintenance Management Systems
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance
